An excellent choice of a hotel on Sukhumvit 11

My stay at the Mercure Bangkok Sukhumvit 11 was excellent and I will return. The virtues of the hotel are many. One.... is that it's on a very happening street, Sukhumvit 11 (filled with restaurants, bars, etc) so there is a lot of street life. Plus the hotel was totally refurbished a number of years ago and the rooms are fresh, modern, nicely decorated, and clean, plus have excellent bathroom. Also, there are two good restaurants attached to the hotel---one the steakhouse (expensive) but also Lily Fu, which is excellent, and has to be complimented for a really wonderful breakfast buffet which varies slightly every day and offers a lot of good options (for lunch/dinner it's Asian Fusion---and a nice bar). Before I stayed here at the Mercure, on my last trip I came for the breakfast buffet with friends who said it was great and they were right and it introduced me to the hotel. When in Bangkok and I don't stay at hotel on the Chao Phraya River, I've often stayed on Sukhumvit 11 so I am very familiar with many of the hotels here----the Citadines 11 (low rise) (always a good value but small and getting a bit older but where I used to stay and no charm or lobby to speak of), the Holiday Inn Express (low rise) which is actually very nice value and well maintained and has a nice coffee house on it's main floor but not nearly as nice as the Mercure, and my other favorite is the Aloft Sukhumbit 11 (part of the Marriott chain) where I've often stayed has a very nice staff and a breakfast with a nice view (but the breakfast buffet is not as good as the Mercure). Plus the Mercure has a larger pool area which the Aloft does not have. The other nice thing about the Mercure is the staff is very friendly, and everyone at the "front desk" learns your name very quickly, so it's personalized service. Note some nights you may hear the music from the street (doesn't bother me at all---it might some people) but the rooms look in two directions, and one side of the hotel doesn't overlook Sukhumvit 11 so you can avoid the music that happens on some nights. The hotel is a high rise so you have nice views of the city. And again, the location is fun, and I've known a lot of people who come to Bangkok and book a hotel, and sometimes a nice one, in a dead/boring location but Sukhumvit 11 is definitely a central fun street. (and there's also a market just a block and a half away). And you've got two really nice restaurants that are part of the hotel (although not owned by the hotel) and I've also stayed at much more expensive hotels on the Chao Phraya River, which I also love but these are much much much more expensive (the magical Mandarin Oriental, the Shangri La, the Peninsula etc) but the local neighborhood isn't as fun as Sukhumvit but the river is magical. So bottom line is that I can definitely recommend this hotel for the value and location and the friendly staff and nice clean and modern rooms. And they have the great breakfast buffet to start the day off with if you want. And I will return. This stay was supposed to be one night and I was going to change hotels, but I liked it so much I just kept extending my time here. This is part of the Accor Group of Hotels...

Excellent hotel in bangkok sukhumvit 11 Situated on a prime location Many clubs & Indian restaurants on this road as well 10/10 for hospitality 10/10 cleanliness Special thanks to Mr. TOP for making our 3 day stay amazing Very humble person and tuk tuk master of this hotel

The stay in the hotel was very very good of course everybody it's very helpful here special Mr Ken and Mr Kitt. And the breakfast is brilliant so I love to stay here in this hotel and I will come back again next year for sure

Great stay

Beautiful hotel. We had a privilege room with access to the privilege club, so we were on the 16th floor. It was amazing. The room was huge and super clean, with a bath and a separate shower. The mini bar was complimentry but only the water was replenished. The pool was lovely and never crowded. Lots of shade and sun. The road outside is a bit noisey at night but nothing you couldn't sleep through (my husband worn ear plugs). The staff in the privilege club were lovely and very attentive on the first day and then dropped off a bit on the next few days. They serve afternoon tea (Small sandwiches and a few biscuits) from 2-4pm and the serve evening food and cocktails 5-7pm. This included some sort of warm dish, salad and cheese board and one dessert. Fruit was also available. Breakfast was served in the Lily Fu restuarant, downstairs. It was very nice. There was plenty of variety, however I would have eaten a lot more fruit but it was not covered and there were a lot of small flies around them. Wonderful stay and wonderful memories.
